Holiday Drinks for the Bailout Season

A PR firm Cognito that caters to journalists covering finance and technology is hosting a holiday party on Thursday evening with themed cocktails and descriptions that reflect the current news events. One that is bound to be popular is Cosmo Paulson, described as “a generous bailout of vodka, triple sec, cranberry juices and lime.”
Some creative ones are the TARPatini – named after the Troubled Asset Relief Program, which the menu dubs “an instant balance-sheet cleaner.” One of the more lethal concoctions is CDO, which stands for the Collateralized Drinking Obligation — "a complex mix of Stoli vodka, Elderflower water and lychee with a warm orange twist.”
Then there’s the Wall Street Bonus, “a sobering year-end blend, an on-the-rocks refresher for some but not for all.” How poignant in light of the recent anti-bonus trend afflicting many of Wall Street’s chief executives officers including Lloyd Blankfein, John Mack and John Thain. According to Cognito’s menu, if any of the journalists order the Wall Street Bonus, the bar staff has been instructed to serve them a glass of water. It figures…
