Video: Future of Lehman In Europe
By Kerry MassaroSep 14, 2009 at 10:15 AM ET
I watched an interesting and indepth video interview on CNN this morning that is worth watching. Tony Lomas, Lehman Brothers Int'l Administrator talks to CNN's Jim Boulden about many of the decisions made by Lehman Europe one year ago and what has transpired over the year.
Lomas discusses some of the decisions made a year ago by Lehman Europe which were different from those made by Lehman Brothers Inc. in New York. For example, Lehman Europe sold its equity trading business and parts of its investment banking business to Nomura, but did not sell the financial positions of its clients and retained the company's infrastructure--its building, its IT organization and systems. Lehman in New York, sold both its clients' financial positions and infrastructure. Lomas discusses why these decisions were made and how they have impacted Lehman Europe. If this video interests you, also check out Advanced Trading's recent story on Remaking Wall Street, which discusses both the Lehman Brothers/Barclays as well as Lehman Brothers/Nomura acquisitions and decisions over this past year.
