Interdealer Brokerage BGC Partners hired Sal Trani as executive managing director. Trani will be responsible for overseeing BGC's corporate, credit default swap, mortgage-backed securities and equity derivatives desks. Trani previously was president of Garban Corporates.

Bill YancEy, president and CEO of Penson Financial Services, was named chairman of the Securities Traders Association. Yancey says he looks forward to his new role and plans to build on the STA's foundation and further the efforts of outgoing chairman James Duncan, SVP, Canaccord Capital.
