Barclays appointed Lehman Brothers veteran Larry Wieseneck as chief strategy officer for its corporate and investment banking segments, according to a memo obtained by the New York Times blog DealBook.
Wieseneck previously served as the firm's head of global finance and risk solutions, but will move into his new role immediately. Dealbook noted that Wieseneck will be responsible for ensuring all of the bank's businesses are focused on the firm's overall strategic plan.
Barclays is operating in an environment of significant regulatory and market change, and we must remain disciplined and coordinated as we continue to gain momentum. Larry will work with all of our businesses and regions to ensure alignment between our intermediate and long-term strategic objectives, and our near-term goals and responsibilities. He will have global oversight in coordinating the execution of our strategy.
