"We continue to grow and we've been able to take on additional market share and as we do that and plan ahead we've decided it's best to divide and conquer and set specific responsibilities for the team," says Packy Jones, Chairman of JonesTrading.
Will Geyer will now assume the role of CEO in addition to his current President title. Geyer joined the firm about a year ago from Citigroup where he oversaw the firm's front end electronic trading platform.
Jones, who previously served as CEO, will continue to serve as Chairman of the firm.
"Technology has become such a significant part of the business and with Will's knowledge of that and his understanding of how to most efficiently execute orders it works perfectly," says Jones.
In addition to Geyer's new title, Mike Hornbuckle will now serve as Vice Chairman while Steve Chmielewski will now serve as Chief Operating Office in addition to his current role as General Counsel. Steven Tuller will serve as National Sales Manager and Alan Hill will continue as CFO.
JonesTrading recently launched its distressed debt business and is looking to expand internationally as well, says Jones. "We're looking at the Canadian market and hoping to make that happen in the third or fourth quarter," he says. "We believe being physically location in Canada is important so we'll probably be opening an office in Toronto."
Jones says that beyond Canada, Europe will be next for international expansion.
