9:30 - 10:15 am New Tools, New Rules
2007 has been a year of great change in the marketplace. Between the creation of global exchanges, the emergence of yet more dark pools of liquidity, the transformation of the OMS/EMS and the implementation of Reg NMS, the buy side trader has to adapt its desk to a new environment. This session takes a high level view of what has changed in the market and how the buy-side trader has evolved and will continue to adapt.

10:15 - 10:30am Refreshment Break
10:30am - 11:15am Searching for Alpha Overseas
Buy side traders, at the direction of their portfolio managers, are always searching for alpha, and many are finding it overseas. As more capital flows abroad, faster growing areas in Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Japan are affording buy side traders opportunities for better returns than they are getting in the U.S.

This session takes a look at what it takes to set up shop or trade internationally whether you are running a 24-hour desk in the U.S. or trading in the local time zone. It will look at the affect, if any, global EXCHANGE mergers and new regulations may have on international trading as some of those markets open up to algorithms, DMA and dark pools. Will traders need new tools to navigate increasingly global markets? If returns keep increasing in markets like Asia, Eastern Europe, will more U.S. buy side traders turn abroad?
